Beautifully written, and so heartbreaking. I live in Michigan--all the snow and ice is falling south of us. Yes, our winters have become dull and brown, and I miss the bright white, but we are so very lucky. I shall not complain. Sending my tears to all those who bear such trauma.

What a lucky escape, Ki. And a beautiful poem. It’s devastating to read of what is happening right now. Please stay safe 🙏

So sorry you went through this, Kiki, but I'm glad you wrote it and shared it. You took me there with you, and I'm somehow better for it.

A gorgeous piece that is just so heartbreakingly vivid. I'm glad you're not in an evacuation area now and I dearly hope it stays that way. Big hugs.

Thank you for sharing this. My daughter lives in LA, and I've been a nervous wreck. She evacuated to Newport last night. I'm in Texas where we live with the constant threat of tornadoes, but the raging fire threat is foreign and beyond frightening. As a person obsessed with words, I've always been enamored of the word "wildfire". Not so much any more.

She is good. Some of her best friends lost their homes, but her apartment is ok. Thanks for checking on her.
